So far on our dive into the world of social enterprise funding we have learned so much. We have been tasked with researching the landscape of social enterprise and opportunities surrounding financing in Ireland and Australia.
I’ve started my research by looking into the training available in Ireland to social entrepreneurs.
What we have found really interesting is how much Ireland has adapted already to moving training online due to the current and ongoing Covid-19 situation here. Currently, we are all being asked to work from home and this includes studying from home, also. This means learning institutes all over the country are being asked to change the way they teach and present courses to students.
One of the organisations we are interested in engaging with is “The Wheel.” They are Ireland’s national association of community and voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises. They have adapted some of the courses they run from in-person sessions to online course. They have also created a new course to support people working in social enterprises during the current pandemic. “Covid 19 hasn’t changed Fundraising” goes through various topics which introduce organisations to the important steps needed to put in place a solid strategy for 2021 and beyond.
Topics covered in the course include:
What do you need money for?
What can you learn from other organisations?
How to analyse your previous successes or failures
Diversifying income
Putting a plan in place
Setting realistic targets
We are excited to keep learning more about the social enterprise landscape across Europe. Although the project is only in the first few months of fruition, it has been a great experience so far and we are looking forward to what’s to come and hopefully to swap the Zoom videoconferences for some in-person meetings soon.
